We see a tan colored apartment building and a parking lot where Ine's blue car is just pulling in. Then Ine walks into the living room of an apartment carrying a box labeled "Desk". A male dalmatian sets a drink down on the table and greets him, saying, "Hey there! Welcome to number 20! You the new guy?" Ine says, "Sure am. I'm Ine." The dalmatian shakes hands with him and says, "Good to meet you. I'm Chris. Need help with your stuff?" Ine says, "Sure, thanks. It's all on the front porch." Chris leaves the room while pointing towards the hallway, saying, "Okay, your room's on the right. You're with Dil." Ine begins walking towards the hallway, glancing over his shoulder and saying, "Dil. Okay, thanks!" As Ine walks down the hallway, he smiles and thinks to himself, "A roommate won't be so bad. It'll be like having a mission companion again, right?" We see a close up of his hand turning the doorknob, then he enters the room and stares in shock. The room has two beds and a dresser. Lying on the bed on the right is Dil, who looks like a green panther with a bird face, fins on the sides of his head, and a fan of light green feathers on the tip of his tail. He has the proportions of a quadrupedal animal rather than a biped, and is not wearing clothes. He looks up from a laptop and smiles at Ine, saying, "'Sup roomie! Welcome to the area."

My own apartment number was 20 when I was in a complex for young single adults. It was called Cinnamon Tree though, instead of Apple Orchard. But I mean, “apple cinnamon”? It kinda fits, right? 😋
And here we get our very first look at Dilawar! I was also lucky enough to room with my best friend from high school rather than somebody I didn’t even know. To be clear though, Dilawar doesn’t directly represent him. In these early pages, many characters had a real world analog. Dil though was one that was almost entirely made up. He quickly became a fan favorite though! Probably because of his unique character design and fun-loving personality.
