Chris smiles and holds up his hands placatingly as Ine frowns and walks away. Chris says, "Okay, okay. But why the steam room instead of just an extra long shower?" Ine reaches for a door and says, "We'd run out of hot water before it got humid enough. Besides, my bathroom was occupied." We see a closeup of Ine's hand, trying to turn the door handle, which just rattles. After a pause, Ine sighs. We then see the inside of the bathroom where Dil is snoozing contentedly in the bathtub which is full of bubbles. Ine's voice says, "Speaking of, can I use your shower again?"
Lark says…
How long as it been since you heard an artist talk about hands? Well, don’t worry, I won’t go too far into it other than to say that yes, they’re still hard. Surprisingly so, considering one pretty much always has a reference to use. (Good idea by the way. Always use a reference when drawing hand closeups. Or anything else, really.)
The most noticeable thing about this page’s draft though is the final panel. For whatever reason I didn’t have access to my computer one evening, but I new what I wanted in that panel, so I just drew it in my physical sketchbook, then scanned it in. It’s very easy to let setbacks prevent us from making progress, but often we find them to be relatively minor. And even when they’re not minor, they’re also not insurmountable. Use what you have. If your normal way of doing things isn’t working, find another way!
