Flying on Fumes 3

Transcript

Chris is snoring in his bed, tongue hanging out the side of his mouth and one ear stuck inside-out. He stops snoring abruptly and opens one eye as Kraal's voice comes from the side saying, "Then maybe I could... No, that won't work... hmmm..." Chris sits up in bed, stretches one arm and yawns loudly, then says, "Morning. You're up early." Kraal, who's sitting nearby, turns around looking concerned and says, "Oh, sorry. Did I wake you?" Chris tilts his head and fixes his ear, which was still inside-out, and says, "Eh, my alarm goes off in a few minutes anyway." Chris gets out of bed and bends down to touch his toes, while smirking over at Kraal. He says, "Whatcha got there? Tricky math problem?" Kraal glances back and stammers, "Y... yeah, something like that." His sitting in front of his tablet and holding a tablet pen. The screen of the tablet shows a calendar labeled, "Final Exams Schedule" with numerous arrows, circles, and exes drawn over different timeslots in red.

Lark

Ah yes. The infamous "Traveling Senior" problem.

Behind the Scenes

Boy, I remember trying to min-max my exam schedule to try and spent as little time in that miserable “test taking mode” as possible. Fun times!

This is the first page I completed entirely using my new laptop and Huion Kamvas 16. It’s definitely different drawing directly on the screen rather than drawing on a different surface than the one it’s appearing on. While it does takes some getting used to though, it’s a positive difference for sure. I feel like I have more control. The pencil responds to my hand more precisely, which makes drawing feel much more natural. I also picked up a nifty keydial that I use for programming commonly used keyboard shortcuts. Highly recommended! It means I don’t need to reach over the tablet display to press the keys.

Working on new equipment is always an adjustment, but if it helps you work more effectively, it’s well worth the learning curve!
